Poison Spyder''s JK Body Mounted Tire Carrier works with the stock rear bumper or just about any aftermarket rear bumper, and can accomodate up to a 40" spare tire and accessories. The main tire carrier assembly is made of 1-1/2" DOM tubing for strength and great looks. All of the plate steel components are CNC laser cut and brake-formed from 1/8" or 3/16" steel plate. The hinge and latch assemblies are designed to address common issues inherent in similar tire carriers from other manufacturers. The tire carrier comes with mounting points to add several Rot-Pax fluid packs as well as a Hi-Lift jack.

Product Description A New Approach To "Body Mounted" Tire Carriers In designing this product, Poison Spyder re-wrote the book on body-mounted tire carriers. We leaked the first prototype photos over a year before the product''s eventual launch, so we could take the necessary time to engineer a product that addressed the major weaknesses we saw in competing body mounted tire carriers of this style. Chief among those issues is the inherent weakness that simply mounting to the Jeep''s body does entail. Particularly on the driver''s side, where the tire carrier latches and half the weight of the spare tire, wheel, carrier, jack, fluid jugs, etc. are attached. Unlike the passenger side, where strength is built into the body at the factory to support the tailgate and the stock spare tire, at the driver''s side there''s simply not enough strength in the flimsy exterior sheetmetal to support the load properly. Competing tire carriers simply bolt to the exterior sheet metal on the driver''s side, and in two separate brackets with small footprints. Poison Spyder''s latch plate is a one-piece vertical assembly with a large footprint to more effectively spread the load. Furthermore, we''ve engineered a set of internal gussets that are installed within the body cavity behind the taillight, to tie the latch plate into the heavier duty inner tub structure of the Jeep.

Cam-Adjustable For Perfect Fit & Operation different size tires and accessory configurations can cause any swing-out tire carrier to sag slightly, causing difficulties in proper installation and ease of operation. Poison Spyder has engineered an ingenious cam adjustment system into the upper hinge assembly, to allow for adjustment to accomodate any size and weight of tire, wheel and accessories. Once properly adjusted, the tire carrier easily opens with one hand regardless of the weight load it is carrying.

Fits ANY Tire/Wheel Combo Up To 40" the spare tire mounts into the Tire Carrier using a large ACME-threaded rod and fabricated wingnut with a urethane centering cone. This mounting method works with any wheel bolt pattern, center hole size, wheel offset or diameter. And the "cage" of the tire carrier is designed to fit around up to a 40" diameter tire. The mounting plate is CNC laser cut from 3/16" plate steel and precision brake-formed for a perfect fit. The tubular rocker rail is rugged 1.75" X .120 wall DOM structural tubing. The slider rail is fabricated from CNC-bent 1.5" X .120 wall DOM tubing. The space between the Slider and the main tube of the Rocker Knocker is filled with a CNC laser-cut Slider Skid. DOM Tube Construction the tubular rocker rail is rugged 1.75" X .120 wall DOM structural tubing. The slider rail is fabricated from CNC-bent 1.5" X .120 wall DOM tubing. The space between the Slider and the main tube of the Rocker Knocker is filled with a 3/16" thick CNC laser-cut steel base plate for the removable slider skid. The slider and skid mount at an angle to the main tube of the Rocker Knocker to provide boatside-like protection from the rocks while keeping the Jeep's doors and body a safe distance from higher level trail hazards.

Removable Slider Skid the removable slider skid features Poison Spyder's exclusive oval dimples for structural strength as well as great Poison Spyder looks. The Skid attaches with countersunk stainless steel flat head cap screws for a flush surface. The outer skid is made of 1/8" steel and is secured to a 3/16" base plate welded into the slider hoop assembly. The Slider does not rely on the skid for structure. The advantage of having the ability to remove the skid, is to allow you to replace it if it becomes damaged to a level that it has lost its aesthetic appearance or functionality. Suspension & Body Lift Compatibility Frame-Mounted JK RockeKnockers are not compatible with typical "long arm" suspension kits, without some Do-It-Yourself modifications. The rearward support outrigger will likely interfere with the location of most long-arm kit's link brackets. IMPORTANT: The BFH Disco Skid was designed to work with the '07-'11 JK Rubicon sway bar disconnect mechanism. It is NOT designed to work with the 2012 and newer units. Customers may use this product on their 2012 and newer JK Rubicon at their own discretion, but Poison Spyder makes no warranty as to fitment or guarantee against damage to other components of the Jeep due to the use of this product on 2012 and newer JK Rubicons. If you own a 2012 and newer JK Rubicon and are considering installing this product on it, here is a brief explanation of the compatibility issue. Installing the BFH Disco Skid requires a procedure to rotate the electric sway bar disconnect mechanism so that it tucks up higher underneath the Jeep and clears the skid, which is designed for maximum ground clearance. Beginning with the 2012 model year, Jeep changed to a different design for the electric sway bar disconnect mechanism on the JK Rubicon. On these 2012 and newer Rubiocns, the sway bar mechanism rotation procedure may leave a small part of the mechanism housing in slight contact with the bottom edge of the air conditioning condenser unit. It may also slightly contact the skid itself. This can result in damage to the condenser. Those who still want to install the Disco Skid on their 2012 and newer Rubicon may do so at their own risk, though they may minimize that risk by grinding away material from the mechanism housing where it would rub the condenser. Poison Spyder provides no instructions for doing this, however, and makes no warranty for the product or damage caused by installing it on 2012 and newer JK Rubicons. Unfortunately, Jeep placed this unit in a vulnerable spot where it can be damaged or torn off by rocks and other trail obstacles. Poison Spyder's JK Evap Skid solves this issue by protecting the canister with a rugged skid plate. The design of the Poison Spyder JK Evap Skid has been updated to fit all year models and configurations of Jeep Wrangler JK's, from 2007 to present, both 2-door and 4-door.

The Poison Spyder JK Evap Skid is CNC laser cut and brake-formed from 3/16" plate steel. It completely envelopes the evap canister to protect it from the bottom, front, sides and rear. The front surface of the skid is slanted like a ramp to help slide the Jeep up and over any obstacles that might reach up that far into the Jeep's undercarriage. And of course the skid features the familiar laser cut Spyder symbol.

The unique installation method involves removing the stock mounting bracket and securing the canister into the Evap Skid using the provided components and hardware. Poison Spyder Crusher Corners for the JK provide ultimate protection for the vulnerable rear corners of your Jeep JK. Crusher Corners are full-corner protectors, extending from the rear tailgate, around the side, over the wheel openings and all the way to the door openings. Made of rugged 1/8" steel, JK Crusher Corners may be used with the stock JK fender flares or with Poison Spyder's JK Rear Crusher Flares for the ultimate combination of rear corner armor.

IMPORTANT: This product was recently revised, with two significant changes from earlier versions (most of the photos in the gallery below depict the earlier version): The "Spyder" logo is no longer cut out at the front edge of the Crusher Corner; the tailgate hinge cut-outs are slightly larger and not "bumped out", in order to accomodate Poison Spyder's JK Body Mounted Rear Tire Carrier without modifications.
