How to read this guide
Each number in the table is the recommended suspension lift height, in inches, to clear that tire diameter (31"-40" across the top) for the listed model, year, and modification. A "0" means the tire fits at stock height. A blank cell means that combination isn't a typical recommendation. Rows marked "Fender Trim" or "Cut-out Flare" assume you trim the wheel opening, which lets a bigger tire fit with less lift. Off-road tire diameters are the first number in a flotation size - e.g. a 35x12.50R17 is a 35" tire.

Tire Fitment FAQ
How do I read a tire size like 35x12.50R17?
Off-road (flotation) tire sizes read as overall diameter × section width × wheel diameter. A 35x12.50R17 is roughly 35" tall, 12.5" wide, and mounts on a 17" wheel. Metric sizes (e.g. 285/70R17) read as section width in mm / aspect ratio / wheel diameter — a 285/70R17 works out to about a 33" tall tire. Our fitment charts above use the overall diameter (31"–40").
What lift do I need to run 35-inch tires?
It depends on the vehicle, but most modern 1/2-ton trucks and Jeep Wranglers need roughly a 4–6" suspension lift to clear 35s without rubbing. Find your exact model and year in the chart above — the number in the "35" column is the recommended lift height in inches. Some platforms (e.g. a Wrangler JL) clear 35s with only a 2" lift or fender trimming.
Will 35s fit my Jeep Wrangler?
A Wrangler TJ needs about a 6" lift for 35s, a JK needs about 4", and a JL needs only 2–4" (0" with trimming on some). See the Jeep chart above for your exact year, then build a matching wheel-and-tire package with the right backspacing so the tires clear at full stuff and steer lock.
What does "fender trim" or "cut-out flare" mean in the chart?
Those columns show the lift you need if you also trim the fenders (or run cut-out flares). Trimming removes sheet metal or plastic at the wheel opening so a larger tire clears with less lift — it's a common way to fit a bigger tire while keeping the ride height lower.
Why does wheel offset and backspacing matter for fitment?
Two trucks with the same lift can fit very different tires depending on wheel offset/backspacing, which pushes the tire in toward the suspension or out toward the fender. Less backspacing (more negative offset) pushes the tire outboard for more clearance but adds stress to bearings and can rub the fender. Our charts are a starting point — the wheel you choose changes the result.
Do bigger tires always need a lift?
Not always. Going up one size (say a 31" to a 32") is often a no-lift or leveling-kit change on many trucks. Jumping to 33s, 35s and beyond almost always needs suspension lift, fender trimming, or both. The "None" rows with a "0" value in the chart show where a tire fits stock.
Will bigger tires change my speedometer?
Yes. Taller tires cover more ground per revolution, so your speedometer reads slower than your true speed and your odometer under-counts miles. After a tire-size change you'll want to recalibrate the speedometer (a programmer or dealer reflash) to keep readings accurate.
